Just Got the Funeral over with

We have been up in New Jersey for about a week and a half now. My grandfather passed away. He did not leave all that much, but of course some of my cousins and my aunt and uncle are fighting over it. That would have been fine with me, but they made me the executor. I kind of got made at all of them and threatened to put all the money in the ground with him. It is not as if it could not have been done. Between the cost of funeral monuments in Bergen County NJ, the cost of a nice coffin and paying for all of the stuff that goes along with it you could easily spend this much money on burying a person. It seemed as though half of the people in the county were there, including a lot of the local officials in the county government.

That is because my grandfather worked for the county for close to fifty years in total. Even when he retired about a decade ago he went on doing consulting work for them. He knew so much about the place that it was difficult to replace the ability that he had, most of all he knew all of the people and he got along with all of them. That is not to say he could not raise his voice or that he would not tell you off when you needed it, but for the most part he was totally honest with every man and woman that he ever met. It was his hallmark and it was something that served him well over the course of time. You can not really estimate the value of having a reputation as a man who was unswervingly honest and direct in all his dealings with others.
